Word Grid Strategy
A grid of letters can feel overwhelming at first glance. Scanning it systematically finds far more words than staring at the whole board at once.
Start from rare letters
Letters like Q, X, J, and Z only connect to a handful of useful paths, so check them first — you'll either find a quick word or rule that area out and move on.
Scan for common bigrams
Look for adjacent tiles that spell common two-letter combinations like TH, ER, IN, or ST. These are frequent building blocks for longer words and a good place to start tracing a path.
Work outward from corners and edges
Corner and edge tiles have fewer neighbors, which makes them easier to fully explore. Clear those areas first before tackling the more connected middle of the grid.
Look for suffix-friendly clusters
If you spot letters that could form -ING, -ED, -ER, or -S near the end of a partial word, check whether a valid path connects them — endings are an easy way to extend a short find into a longer, higher-scoring word.
