What Is a Letter Position Heatmap?
Not every letter is equally likely to show up everywhere in a word. Some letters cluster toward the start (like S), others toward the end (like E or S again), and some barely appear at certain lengths at all. This heatmap scans every word of the length you pick and calculates, for each of the 26 letters, what percentage of words have it in position 1, position 2, and so on — darker cyan means a stronger match.
How to Use It for Wordle Strategy
Use the table to sanity-check your starting word: an opener that covers several high-frequency positions gives you more information from a single guess. Later in the game, it can also help you weigh two remaining candidates — if one puts a rare letter in a rare position, the other is usually the safer bet.
