How the Anagram Solver Works

Enter between 2 and 28 letters in any order. The solver compares their counts against the matching length shards in our general English word list and returns every exact anagram — words that use all of your letters. LISTEN, for example, can become SILENT.

Repeated Letters

Letter counts matter. One E cannot make a word containing two Es, because every result must consume the letters you entered and nothing else. A five-letter rack can only produce five-letter words.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an exact anagram?

An exact anagram uses every entered letter exactly once, only changing their order.

What does the count of possible letter combinations mean?

It represents the total number of unique ways your entered letters can be arranged (mathematical permutations accounting for duplicate letters). The solver checks these combinations against the 277,000+ word dictionary used by the site to return all valid words.

What dictionary does the anagram solver use?

Results are evaluated against the comprehensive 277,000+ word dictionary used by the site, which combines standard tournament lexicons (TWL06 and CSW21) for maximum coverage across word games.

Results come from our general English word list. Word acceptance varies by game and dictionary edition.
