How the Anagram Solver Works

Enter between 2 and 12 letters in any order. The solver compares their counts against the matching length shards in our general English word list. Exact anagrams appear first because they use every letter: LISTEN, for example, can become SILENT. When shorter words are enabled, results that leave letters unused appear separately and are grouped from longest to shortest.

Wildcards and Repeated Letters

Letter counts matter. One E cannot make a word containing two Es unless the entered letters also include a wildcard. Add one question mark or asterisk for each unknown letter. A wildcard supplies one letter but does not add an extra character, so a seven-character entry still produces seven-letter exact anagrams.
