Spelling Bee Strategy

Every valid word has to include the center letter, so the fastest players build their search around it instead of scanning all 7 letters at once.

Start from the center letter

Think of two-letter combinations that pair naturally with the center letter, then try building outward from there. It narrows the search space immediately since every word needs it.

Check common prefixes first

If the center letter or another common letter is at the start of a plausible word, test prefixes like RE-, UN-, OVER-, and OUT- — they unlock several words at once.

Don't forget -ING, -ED, and -ER

Endings pad your word count fast. If you find a valid 4-letter word, check whether adding -ING, -ED, -ER, or -S also uses only the 7 available letters.

Look for the pangram

One word usually uses all 7 letters at least once and scores the most points. If you've found words touching most of the letters, try combining the ones you haven't used yet.
