How to Play

If you've played Wordle, you already know the rules. Pick a word length, then start guessing. After each guess, every tile is colored to show how close you got: green means the letter is correct and in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the word but in the wrong spot, and gray means the letter isn't in the word at all. Use the on-screen keyboard or your own to type each guess. Turn on hard mode when you want every revealed letter reused. Performance is tracked separately by word length; Challenge rounds are excluded from official stats.

Practice Mode, Not Just One a Day

Unlike the familiar one-game-a-day format, Practice Mode lets you play as many rounds as you want, whenever you want, at 4, 5, or 6 letters. Your progress for each length is saved automatically, so you can switch modes and pick up right where you left off.

A Word Guess for Every Length

Classic Wordle is always 5 letters. Here you can play the length that suits your mood -- Solo gives you one extra attempt over the word length itself:

  • 4 letters - a quicker, easier warm-up round, with 5 attempts.
  • 5 letters - the familiar five-letter format, with 6 attempts.
  • 6 letters - a step up in difficulty with more letters to track, with 7 attempts.

Challenge a Friend

Finish a round and hit Challenge a Friend to generate a link. Anyone who opens it plays the exact same word -- so the shared result compares like with like without revealing the answer in the link.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Solo an unlimited word game?

Yep -- Practice has no daily cap, so you can keep playing fresh Solo rounds whenever you want. Daily mode has one puzzle a day, with its own streak separate from Duet and Quartet.

Are there hints if I get stuck?

There are. If a puzzle has you stuck, Get Hint opens a short chooser where you select an eligible board position and reveal its letter. Reveals stay on that board and never change your shared guess or keyboard feedback.

What is the best starting word to use?
